Seomun Market has been formed since the mid-Joseon period, and its former name is Daegu Market.
Daegu Market was one of the three major marketplaces in the country along with Pyongyang Market
and Kang-kyung Market during the Joseon Dynasty.
Originally it was a small market located outside the northern gate of Daegu Eupseong, the market developed greatly
as the need for supply increased during the Japanese Invasion of Joseon Dynasty.
Even today, it is one of the representative traditional markets in Daegu
, which still flourishes around textile products such as judan and pomok and various food items.
