The name of this village comes from this anecdote.
Once upon a time, in this village, a beautiful mare named Baekhee and a male horse Bimu
, which runs through a long distance one day, built a house in a bamboo forest.
Then one day, Bimu went away to get flowers and herbs, and Baekhee was alone.
At that time, Magodam wanted to get the fast horse and suggested Baekhee
to go out to the battle field with him.
He mistaken Baekhee as Bimu.
Margodam fired an arrow across the street to see Baekhee's skills.
Baekhee ran as hard as she could, but couldn't keep up with the arrow.
Angry Margotam killed Baekhee.
After that, Bimu, who had gone to get Baekhee's food, returned and wept sadly at the sight of Baekhee's body.
Since then, people have not seen Bimu and can only hear the cries of Bimu.
However, flowers and herbs were constantly placed in Baekhee's tomb, indicating that Bimu had been visiting.
It is said that the plague passed through the whole country and people died,
but the village did not turn around because of the medicinal herbs placed in Baekhui's tomb.
And Margodam built a pavilion to apologize and ended his life there.
The pavilion is Mabijeong.
It means a pavilion where a horse cried.
Later, the village was called Mabijeong.
